Research Participants Needed!

“How do YOU do Community?” RESEARCH STUDY

We are excited to share a research participant opportunity with you. The Center for Inclusion and Reflective Collaboration (CIRC Center) within the Transitions to Adulthood Center for Research and the Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion is looking to conduct interviews about community participation.

The research team is prioritizing the voices of those who are ages 18-30; experience mental health concerns that make work, school, and or personal life challenging; and, who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color), LGBTQIA+, and/or have experience in the justice or child welfare systems.

The study explores what community participation means to you, including your experiences since the COVID pandemic. These interviews will be conducted over Zoom and will last up to 90 minutes. If you are interested, contact Tracy.Neville@umassmed.edu.  

Meet the Panelists for our MHLC Annual Meeting in Orlando on Monday, Dec. 1

Join us in Orlando for our 3rd annual MHLC in-person meeting as a pre-conference session of the Advancing School Mental Health Conference.

Our afternoon will include a panel discussion, “Financing School Mental Health Initiatives,” featuring four remarkable leaders: Sean Perry, Founder & President of We R H.O.P.E.; Dr. Kathleen Ethier, Co-founder of Triple Dividend Partners; Angela Kimball, Chief Advocacy Officer at Inseparable; and, Scott Hutchins, School Behavioral Health Unit Supervisor at Michigan Department of Education.

There’s still time to join us! This convening includes school and community leaders, educators, researchers, mental health professionals, policy and advocacy voices, and all champions for mental health education.

Each year we look back on our progress, connect (in real life!) on existing and new initiatives, and we look toward the future of MHLC. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity!

Recently, our CEO was featured in a national radio show and podcast with American Urban Radio Networks. Available on all the major podcast platforms (search "In-Good-Health"), this 12-minute segment highlights Annie's experiences as a parent navigating her child's mental health crisis without the knowledge and confidence that mental health literacy provides. The segment also covers the work of the MHLC and provides direct links to our organization.

We are so happy to recognize Dr. Tim Dohrer as our November Mental Health Literacy Champion. Tim has been a classroom teacher, administrator, and author for 35 years in K-12 schools and higher education.

For the past 12 years he has been an Assistant Professor and Director at Northwestern University, Northern Illinois University, and National Louis University. Tim has been a passionate supporter of mental health literacy as an upstream, scalable solution to the mental health crisis. We are so grateful for his partnership.
