Mental Health Awareness Month is upon us. Thank you for all you do to raise awareness during May and throughout the year. We are grateful for you and your dedication to this work. And, we are grateful for your commitment to including mental health literacy (MHL) in your efforts.

Like you, the MHLC works all year long to raise awareness. So this year, here’s how we’ll be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM):

1) Our awareness will turn inward, as we consider how we can better serve you, our MHLC community. We are asking for feedback from anyone who has taken MHL Aware or MHL Aware for Educators so that we can learn and improve. You can access that survey here.

2) We will be elevating partner MHAM campaigns on LinkedIn. We invite you to tag us in non-soliciting posts so we can help shine light your great work!

In the session, "Making the Case for MHL in Higher Ed: First Year Experience & Student Success," Dr. Amy Bidwell, Associate Professor at SUNY Oswego makes the case for bringing mental health literacy (MHL) into higher education spaces, particularly within First Year Experience & Student Success programs.

Dr. Bidwell brings years of experience teaching nutrition, exercise physiology, and science education in higher education. Her research centers on the integration of evidence-based positive psychology strategies, goal-setting, resilience exercises, and mindfulness techniques within the academic setting, all aimed at enriching the holistic well-being of students.
