Greetings from the MHLC…

Todd Crooks is Co-Founder and Executive Director of Chad’s Legacy Project (CLP) which is dedicated to the advancement of mental health education, access to care, and innovations in the evaluation and treatment of mental illness. Soon after losing their son Chad to suicide, Todd and his wife Laura launched CLP, which offers support and education resources related to mental health and suicide prevention. CLP has also partnered with University of Washington SMART Center to build Mental Health Instruction (MHI), a website offering schools vetted mental health education resources for K-12 education. Todd continues to respond with innovative solutions in the space of national mental health advocacy and education. Most recently, Todd has been leading an expansive research initiative aiming to capture outcomes from MHL education.

One of the biggest barriers to mental health literacy implementation is educator confidence. That’s why our MHL Aware for Educators training measures learner confidence with pre- and post-surveys. As of May, we’ve trained over 600 people with more than 350 opting into the surveys. Here are the latest results:

In addition to our one-hour, asynchronous MHL Aware, we also offer a half-day, customized leadership workshop for schools and communities. This is an opportunity for leaders to dig into the content and explore how mental health literacy can enhance current or emerging initiatives they are leading.
