Meet our February MHL Champion, Fran Russo-Avena, MSN, MHM!

Fran has been a dedicated advocate for mental health and addiction resources across Delaware for many years. With a dual Masters of Science in Nursing and in Health Care Management, Fran has supported students and families in school settings for decades, bringing both professional expertise and deep compassion to her work. Guided by lived experience navigating mental health and substance use disorder challenges as a family member, Fran lends authenticity and credibility to her advocacy. She serves on the Board of aTAcK addiction, a Delaware nonprofit committed to prevention, education, and recovery, and she is a passionate champion for Mental Health Literacy (MHL) in schools and communities, recognizing its transformative impact for individuals experiencing substance use disorder.
