In this vital CoP session, "District Wide Common Language and Outcomes: Why the Implication of MHL is so vital in our school districts,” Sean will share his work from years in the field serving Tiers II and III students around the globe.

He will explore the benefits of using mental health literacy (MHL) programs as a part of school and community-based mental health services for youth and the need for MHL implementation at district levels. On June 24th at the 23rd Annual Policy & Practice Institute in Dover, Delaware, our CEO Annie Slease and MHLC advisor Nicole Kennedy will be presenting "Going Upstream: A Policy and Practice Conversation on Mental Health Education in the U.S. and Delaware."

In addressing student mental health, much of our attention has focused on responding to crises once they arise. While these supports are essential, there’s growing recognition that we also need to go upstream to help prevent issues before they escalate. Through this engaging workshop, participants can reimagine mental health education through MHL, not just as a response to crisis, but as a pathway to thriving.

Coalition for Student Wellbeing Invites the MHLC for Mental Health Education Panel Discussion

On Friday, June 20 at 12pm ET, our CEO Annie Slease will be part of a panel discussion hosted by Coalition for Student Wellbeing, “Building the Foundation: Why K-12 Mental Health Education Matters for College Wellbeing.”

Other panelists include: James Geisler, Ph.D., NCC, LPC, Executive Director of Wellness Services, Sacred Heart University, and Nicole Namy – Council on Student Wellbeing member, freshman at Rice University. This conversation will be moderated by Carson Domey, Executive Director of Coalition for Student Wellbeing.

We are honored to be part of this important discussion that will highlight how early education can prevent crises, normalize help-seeking, and build emotional readiness before students even arrive on campus.
