Our August Advisor spotlight features Crisjon Solano, principal at University Academy (part of Huntsman Mental Health Institute in Salt Lake City), where she has served since 2009. University Academy, an onsite K-12 private school at HMHI, serves as a vital bridge between mental health treatment and traditional schooling to ensure every student is empowered to learn and grow in a safe, inclusive, and therapeutic academic environment while they undergo psychiatric care. In addition, Crisjon also serves as the Project Co-Sponsor and Curriculum Director for the Brain Health Curriculum Project. This collaboration between University of Utah, Huntsman Mental Health Institute, and the Utah State Board of Education was established after the passage of state legislation in 2022. The goal of this project is to develop an age-appropriate, web-based K-12 neuroscience curriculum to educate learners about their brains, the brain-body connection, and to reduce stigma around mental health issues in an effort to combat the youth mental health crisis. Crisjon is a fierce advocate for mental health literacy and a true champion of the MHLC. We are grateful for her ongoing support! Thank you, Crisjon!
