We are excited to share the recent launch of NAMI’s interactive mental health education map that recently launched. We are so grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the amazing team at NAMI National on this project. Special shoutout to Nicole Kennedy for her incredible research contributions. On the new webpage, NAMI says, “Many students learn about general health issues in health education programs, but those curricula have not always traditionally included mental health. More recently, there has been momentum behind the availability of curricula focused on mental health, which can increase students’ awareness of the signs of mental health conditions in themselves or others and how to seek help…NAMI’s School Mental Health Education Map provides a state landscape of mental health education requirements in schools.”
This interactive platform allows viewers to review state policies related to mental health education. There is also a “Supporting Policies” tab for more information related to the state policies as well as an option to connect with the NAMI National state affairs team if viewers believe something may be missing. This is an excellent tool for people engaged in mental health education to visit regularly. It offers viewers a snapshot of the great policy work being done across the country to ensure young people receive effective mental health education in schools.
