Dr. Erika Franta is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at University of Nebraska Medical Center Munroe-Meyer Institute. The MHLC founding team first met Dr. Franta and her colleagues at the Southeast School Behavioral Health Conference (SSBHC) in 2024 just as our CGI Commitment to Action project was taking shape. Even before MHL Aware for Educators had been formally launched, Dr. Franta and her team were interested in making the training available for their students. They recognized the potential of this one-hour training! This summer, Dr. Franta has added MHL Aware for Educators to her required coursework for her school psychology and special education graduate students at UNMC. With Dr. Franta's support, each of her students will learn about MHL, including why it's beneficial and how to bring it to their school communities. They will begin building their MHL foundation so they may turn and serve the students and families in their care more effectively. We are grateful for Dr. Franta's enthusiasm for MHL and her dedication to bringing MHL Aware to her UNMC students.This month the MHLC recognizes Dr. Franta as champion of MHL. Congratulations!
